Bringing a new life into the world is a miraculous journey, and ensuring a healthy and safe
pregnancy is of utmost importance. Antenatal care, also known as prenatal care, plays a
pivotal role in safeguarding both the mother and the unborn child's well-being during
pregnancy. Women with high-risk pregnancies may need specialty help and observation in
maintaining their pregnancy and give birth to babies that are closer to full-term. Women &
Infants offers a 30-bed Antenatal Care Unit (ACU) on the fourth floor of the South Pavilion.
Patel Women's Hospital Antenatal Care Unit features private rooms that are larger and offer space
for loved ones to spend the night, and private bathrooms with showers. Antenatal care is the
medical care and supervision provided to pregnant women before childbirth. It aims to
monitor and manage the mother's health and the development of the fetus. The fundamental
aspects of antenatal care include monitoring blood pressure, weight, fetal growth,
identifying any abnormalities, administering necessary vaccinations, providing nutritional
guidance, and offering emotional and psychological support to expectant mothers.
